Dhangadhi, December 25
As the city of Dhangadhi rapidly grows in population and urban
activity, the need for proper management of public spaces has
become crucial. One of the pressing concerns is the issue of
unmanaged parking, as seen in various locations across the city.
Vehicles, including motorcycles and scooters, are often parked on
sidewalks and pedestrian pathways, as shown in the attached image.
This creates obstructions for pedestrians and contributes to traffic
congestion. The lack of designated parking areas and clear
regulations leads to chaotic conditions, especially in busy zones.
Pedestrians are forced to walk on the road due to blocked footpaths,
increasing the risk of accidents. Additionally, such disorganised
parking gives a negative impression of the city’s overall urban
planning. It is recommended that the municipality allocate more
designated parking spaces throughout the city, particularly in busy
commercial areas. The traffic police should enforce parking
regulations to ensure that vehicles are not parked on sidewalks or
public pathways. Public awareness campaigns about the importance
of responsible parking can help improve this issue. The municipality
could also explore the option of building multi-level parking facilities
to reduce street-level congestion.
On a positive note, Dhangadhi has seen considerable improvements
in cleanliness and environmental sustainability under the leadership
of Mayor Gopi Hamal. The Clean Green City initiative has
significantly improved the city’s appearance, contributing to better
air quality, increased greenery, and an overall healthier environment.
The program has successfully organised numerous tree-planting
campaigns, enhancing the city’s greenery and reducing pollution.
Effective waste management strategies, including regular garbage
collection and the establishment of proper waste disposal sites,
have contributed to a cleaner city. Mayor Gopi Hamal’s efforts to
involve citizens in the cleanliness drive have created a sense of
community responsibility, ensuring that public areas remain clean.
While Dhangadhi city has made notable strides towards becoming a
model clean and green city, the unmanaged parking problem needs
urgent attention. We sincerely hope that the municipality will take
action to address the parking issue while continuing its excellent
work under the Clean Green City program. With these improvements,
Dhangadhi can continue to flourish as a sustainable, well-managed
urban centre.
